Since we heavily discussed brain-based learning, I found this article fitting. It provides a definition for what cognitive abilities entail and what we need as learners in order to carry out tasks from the simple to the most complex. I found it interesting because it provides a easily read chart the depicts the cognitive ability and then pairs it with the skills involved when accessing a particular brain function.

Throughout the course we have talked a lot about how a students' perceptions and motivational beliefs can have a great impact on their overall ability to learn but function, successfully, not only in the school environment but in their natural environment. The below link discusses how we can look at students' motivational beliefs and some of the surrounding research on the topic. It also discusses how teachers can take a direct role in the assessment process of motivational beliefs.
